BCS Design was awarded the contract to redesign the existing administration building complex in Kansas City for a worldwide corporation. This complex consists of approximately 125,000 square feet of administrative offices, laboratories and support spaces. Spanning over the course of two full years, the administration building will be remodeled in phases. The overall project includes exterior masonry restoration, the replacement of 240 windows, 25,000 square feet of roof replacement which includes the implementation of an 8,500 square feet photo voltaic solar power array, renovation of 60,000 square feet of administrative office space, the demolition of 20,000 square feet of office building space that was originally constructed in the 40’s and 50’s, the construction of a new 9,000 square foot cafeteria addition, and the relocation of the data center (without shutdown) which supports the entire Kansas City site as well as two regional satellite locations.
The third floor (shown) has 16,000 square feet of offices and conference spaces. The design has converted what was a very introverted layout into a very open floor plan bringing natural daylight into every space while maintaining office privacy and accomplishing the client’s sustainable goals.
